Ministry In The Church | Part III
Ministry In The Church: Worship Warriors at Work
Series: The Vision of the Church
Text: Ephesians 4:7–16; Nehemiah 4:17–20
Theme: Christ calls every believer to ministry as a worship warrior — with one hand building His Church, and the other hand wielding the weapons of spiritual warfare.
VI. The Whole Body at Work
Text: Ephesians 4:15–16
Theme: Growth and maturity in the Church come when every member functions in their God-given role.
The Church — A Living Body
The Church is not an organization but a living organism — the Body of Christ.
Christ is the Head who gives direction, power, and life.
Each believer is a member—a vital part with a divine assignment.
When every part functions properly, the Body grows strong; when some parts are idle, the whole Body suffers.
Ephesians 4:16 – “...the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies... causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”
I. Every Member Has a Portion to Build
Nehemiah 3:28
In Nehemiah’s time, each family repaired the section of the wall near their home.
The wall was rebuilt because everyone did their part.
In the same way, the Church is built when every believer engages in their God-assigned area of service.
Key: You are not called to do everything—but you are called to do something.
1 Peter 4:10 – “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”
Ask: What section of the wall am I responsible for?
When you build your section faithfully, the Kingdom advances.
II. Christ the Head – The Source of Life and Power
Text: Ephesians 4:15–16; Colossians 2:19
Christ is the Head—He supplies spiritual nourishment, power, and direction.
The life of the Head flows through the members who are connected.
Disconnection from the Head or from the Body leads to spiritual decay.
John 15:5 – “I am the vine, you are the branches… apart from Me you can do nothing.”
Illustration: A disconnected branch withers; a disconnected believer becomes unfruitful.
Truth: Our unity with Christ and one another determines our growth and fruitfulness.
III. Mutual Dependence – We Need One Another
1 Corinthians 12:21–22; Romans 12:5
No part of the Body can say to another, “I don’t need you.”
Every part has purpose—seen or unseen.
The eye cannot replace the hand; the heart cannot function without the lungs.
Romans 12:5 – “So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.”
Do not compare or compete; complement one another.
Celebrate diversity of gifts—teaching, serving, giving, praying, leading—all are essential.
IV. From Spectatorship to Participation
Ephesians 4:12; Matthew 9:37–38
The church was never designed for spectatorship but for service.
Many watch a few work, but God’s design is for the whole Body to be at work.
The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few, not the attenders.
James 2:17 – “Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
That’s not the picture of the Church God designed.
Call: Every believer is a minister, every disciple a worker in God’s vineyard.
V. Building the Wall Together
Nehemiah 4:6
“So we built the wall... for the people had a mind to work.”
When hearts unite and hands work, the enemy cannot stop the progress.
A united, working church is an unstoppable force for the Kingdom.
Philippians 1:27 – “Stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.”
Truth:
The Church grows when every member takes their place, works in their grace, and stands in unity.
VI. The Result: A Healthy, Growing, Loving Church
Ephesians 4:16 (NLT)
“He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow…”
The result: a healthy, growing, and loving body.
When love is the atmosphere, service is joyful, and growth is natural.
Conclusion: The Call to Build
Christ is the Head; we are His Body.
Each of us has a section of the wall to repair and a gift to contribute.
The health of the Body depends on your participation.
Passive spectatorship weakens the wall; active participation strengthens it.
Nehemiah 4:17: “With one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon.”
Let’s build and battle together for the glory of God!
Key Takeaways
Every believer has a part to play.
Christ supplies life and strength to all.
Unity and participation produce growth.
The Body builds itself in love when all are engaged.
Closing Challenge & Prayer
“Lord, help me to take my place in the Body.
Use my gifts, my time, and my hands to build Your Church.
Let Your life flow through me so that Your Body may be healthy, strong, and full of love.”
